Are you interested in the making of a story of an ‘insignificant people’?
P |
eople who seem to be insignificant are no way less important. They probably did not have the opportunities at the right time, so they are pushed away from the mainstream societies. But it is possible that we can become incidental in bringing significant changes in their lives. A People group video profile is just one among the many ways of telling their story to initiate rewriting the story.
People Group Video Profile
People Group or Community Video Profiles aim to present short video sketches of the least privileged people groups or communities that live in a particular region or location. The video will give glimpses into their ordinary life, issues and challenges faced by them with the goal of inviting interventions or intercessions on their behalf.
Who are the People Groups?
A "people group" is an ethno-linguistic group with a common self-identity and a cultural affinity. Language is a primary and dominant identifying factor of a people group. But there are other factors that determine or are associated with ethnicity. We would focus on native people groups who are on the edges of the society and untouched by the modern development. Priority will be for the least privileged and poor people who are far away from the mainstream society. Most of these poor people groups live in an oral society, illiterate, ignorant and many of them often depraved of basic amenities of life.
What are the goals about the PG Video Profiles?
Each video will aim one or more of the following:
- The less privileged people are brought into the light that is otherwise not in the agenda of the conventional media.
- The general people will become aware of such people or communities living not far away from them and will be challenged to get involved someway.
- Mobilize prayer for the least reached or least privileged people so that there will inroads of intervention, development and transformation among them.
- Workers or volunteers will go and work among them or support any other present initiatives among the community.
Who will use the presentation and disseminate it?
Social workers, activists, NGOs, churches, Christian organizations or anyone who would like to promote development and transformation of less privileged people.
Why should we pray for Peoples?
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore, to send out workers in to His harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37)
There are fields ready for the harvest. But there are fields that need preparation for the seeds to be sown. All these fields need workers of different kinds. Even if one is not called to go as a worker, each one is called to pray for these people. Diligent prayer is possible when we know these fields and the needs there. There are more than 1000 unreached people groups in India. Each of them has a language, culture and practices of their own, mostly unknown to the outside world. These people live in the 600,000 plus villages of rural India. They need to know the love of God. But who will take the message of love and liberation to them? Who will pray to the Lord of the harvest to send the workers? In a crucial time like ours, what we can do is to pray more fervently!
When God’s people prayed, He changed the situations of people and powers of nations, resulting into the spread of His word and extension of His kingdom. Let us join our hearts and hands together in praying for the neediest peoples of our country.
“You are worthy …… because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men (and women) for God from every tribe and language and people and nation…” (Revelations 5:9)
“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb…..” (Rev.7:9-10)
Can we see in faith, a tribe or people group which we prayed for, stand before the throne, wearing white robes…?
